Penetrant testing is used to detect cracks or surface defects in turbine components, including those invisible to the naked eye. A penetrant liquid is applied to the surface and allowed to penetrate into small cracks. After cleaning and developer, the defects become visible as a contrasting indicator. This method allows potential damage to be detected early so that maintenance can be planned appropriately.
